Optimism high in Nakuru that KPSEA exams will end well

Nakuru County Director of Education Victoria Mulili. She wants KPSEA officials to sit behind the candidates to avoid the intimidation of sitting infront of them.

Education stakeholders in Kuresoi South of Nakuru County have expressed hope the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will end well.

Deputy County Commissioner Balak Namai said no major hitch has been reported, with high powered vehicles being used to supply papers to far flung areas.

Speaking in Keringet town, he told those manning the assessment to create a free environment since the candidates are still young.

“The assessment has gone on well. Security and logistical arrangements are properly organized across this sub-county and we don’t expect any major challenge,” said Namai.

County Director of Education Victoria Mulili told invigilators to sit behind the assessment room and not on the front to avoid scaring candidates.

“This is just an assessment. What are invigilators and supervisors doing in front of candidates? They should sit behind the classroom and allow candidates to do the assessment in a free environment,” said Mulili.

The sentiments were echoed by Sub County Director of Education Donnett Otieno, who said that security officers escorting exam papers are under firm instructions to stay away from assessment room.

“This assessment is different from KCSE. These candidates are young and we want to ask those manning this assessment not to be too serious. We don’t want to instill fear among candidates and the security personnel have also been told not to enter assessment rooms,” observed Atieno.
