Olbutyo Boys’ Secondary School will represent Chepalungu Sub-county in the upcoming County Football Games following a successful appeal, despite losing 1–3 to Chepwostuiyet Secondary in the sub-county final held at Tumoi grounds.
Olbutyo had played the final under protest, formally contesting the eligibility of one of Chepwostuiyet’s players. According to the appeal lodged with the games committee, the player in question had previously competed for the same school but repeated a class—raising questions over compliance with Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) regulations regarding student-athlete eligibility.
After reviewing the complaint, Chepwostuiyet opted to withdraw from the case, effectively surrendering their place in the county games.
With the matter now settled, Olbutyo Boys—who had initially bowed out of the competition on the pitch—have been given a second chance and will now shift their focus to preparing for county-level competition, which is slated for tomorrow at Boito secondary school playground, where the opening ceremony will be conducted and then the first matches.
