Nyeri Deputy Governor Waroe Kinanire has flagged off a team of 51 nurses from Nyeri County heading to Kisumu for the 67th International Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025, organized by the National Nurses Association of Kenya (NNAK).
The three-day conference, themed “Nursing Power to Change the World: A Call to Transformative Healthcare,” brings together nurses from across the country and beyond to exchange knowledge, share innovations, and strengthen professional networks aimed at advancing the nursing profession in Kenya.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held at the county headquarters, Deputy Governor Kinanire commended the nurses for their dedication and professionalism, noting that their participation in such national forums was a testament to Nyeri’s commitment to continuous learning and excellence in healthcare delivery.
“Our nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system. Their willingness to engage in research, innovation, and dialogue with colleagues from across the nation ensures that Nyeri remains a model county in providing quality and compassionate care,” said Mr. Kinanire.

He added that the county government continues to prioritize investment in healthcare personnel through training, exchange programs, and welfare initiatives to ensure that the health sector keeps pace with emerging challenges and technologies.
The Nyeri delegation is led by NNAK Nyeri Chairman Thomas Kabanya and County Nursing Officer Eunice Wachira, who expressed optimism that the conference will empower local nurses with new insights and strategies to improve service delivery across the county’s health facilities.
Ms. Wachira emphasized that this year’s theme aligns with global efforts to make healthcare more inclusive, resilient, and patient-centered, especially in the face of rising chronic illnesses and resource constraints.
“This conference provides a platform for nurses to learn best practices, explore research findings, and contribute to the national conversation on healthcare transformation. We are proud to have such strong representation from Nyeri,” she said.
The annual NNAK conference serves as a key platform for professional development, research dissemination, and policy dialogue among Kenyan nurses. Participants are expected to engage in scientific presentations, workshops, and discussions focusing on innovations that can redefine the future of healthcare in Kenya and globally.
