Nyatike Member of Parliament, Hon. Tom Odege has offered to assist the family of Wasonga Allan who emerged second in the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education results.

Odege who congratulated Wasonga on his achievement of scoring an A plain in the exams, appreciated the efforts made by the boy to attain the best grades in the national exams by defying all odds from a humble family background living in the slums of Kibera.

The legislator noted that after he learnt that the boy hails from his sub county, he asked the family to contact him directly for any assistance through his phone number.

Wasonga revealed during an interview on a national television some of the struggles he overcame during the prolonged holiday brought by the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic

“I studied in the toilet since I share a bedsitter with other family members. I was unable to join any classes offered online by our teachers on the radios and television. I had to struggle to catch up on studies with my classmates after I realized they were far much ahead of me due to the online studies [they had] done during the long holiday,” said Wasonga.

The academic achievement by Wasonga seems to have opened doors to brighten His future as two other legislators showed interest in his performance. The two Members of Parliament are; Kibera MP, Hon. Imran Okoth and Kasipul MP. Hon. Ong’ondo Were who is the area MP where Wasonga’s School, Agoro Sare High School is located.
