Nyamira University construction to start tomorrow, MP Osoro reveals

South Mugirango Member of Parliament, MP Sylvanus Osoro has revealed that the construction Nyamira University at Kiabonyoru Secondary will start on Thursday (tomorrow) under the supervision of Kenya Defense Forces (KDF)

“We paid the President a courtesy call in state house and he promised that the construction will start immediately with full allocation of funds.”He said.

Osoro who is tye National Assembly chief whip was speaking to the public in Kisii town on yesterday, August 19.

He said that President Ruto stepped in to stop the controversy among the residents of Nyamira who were in disagreement on the site of the University.

Some grouped argued that the University should be built within Nyamira town because of good roads access and other social amenities like Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital and police station for health and security provisions, others proposed Sironga National school while those from Borabu constituency wanted it to be built at Simbauti farm because of the availability of enough land.

According to Osoro, the CS for education will lead a big group of highly ranked government officials including PS for defense Raymond Omollo and local leaders at Kiabonyoru as a prelude to the planned ground breaking ceremony.

The move to use Defense force to construct the University has attracted different reactions from the residents.

Some members said that Nyamira is a peaceful county that does not need the intervention of the military to harmonies and continue with their development services.

“We are peace lovers and bringing the defense force here gives a perception of fear internal conflicts that we don’t want to intensify under simple differences of opinion.” Said Rev.Ibrahim Ombuya.

Others viewed the plan of using the defense force in site as a usual government functioning policy when service men are sent to where their services may be needed.
