Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo has announced plans to install ICT laboratories in all 210 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres across the county as part of a broader effort to strengthen foundational learning. The governor said the initiative is aimed at preparing young learners for a rapidly digitising world.
Speaking at his Magwagwa home during a thanksgiving ceremony on Sunday, Nyaribo said his administration remains committed to improving education through enhanced infrastructure, digital connectivity and school feeding programmes. He thanked residents for standing by him during his recent impeachment proceedings, saying he would focus his energy on accelerating development projects.
Nyaribo said the county has prioritized investment in early learning, noting that ECDE centres will soon be fitted with modern ICT labs to expose children to digital skills at an early age. He said creating a conducive learning environment is essential as technology becomes central to education and future careers.

The governor also highlighted the success of the ECDE feeding programme, which provides learners with fortified porridge. He said the initiative has significantly boosted enrolment and attendance in early learning centres.
Nyaribo urged political leaders in the county to avoid divisive politics, saying prolonged conflicts have slowed development. He cited the delayed launch of Nyamira University as an example of how political disagreements can derail progress. He called for unity among leaders and encouraged collaboration to advance the county’s development agenda.
The thanksgiving event was attended by political leaders, civil servants and religious representatives, who echoed calls for peace and cooperation. They urged Nyaribo to work closely with neighbouring Kisii Governor Simba Arati and support national development efforts for the benefit of the region.
