The newly appointed school Management Committees in Mochenwa Zone of Masaba North Sub County in Nyamira, have benefited from an induction workshop that will keep them abreast in matters of education management.
Masaba North Subcounty director of education Gabriel Obano, speaking during the induction said that the meeting’s main goal was to equip the new Board members from each school in the area with new knowledge to enable them discharge duties in their respective schools effectively.
“The new Competency Based Curriculum system of education calls for consistent team in order to succeed and that was why we assembled here to forge way forward on how we can work harmoniously.” He said.
The director asked those who had been given the new responsibilities of leading their institutions to be innovative and visionary in their schools and work diligently to lift the good standards of education dignity of the heads of the institutions and the community.

He told them that theirs was a small number picked to represent the large community to learn the schools on their behalf and asked them to mobilize resources in their regions to sustain their schools instead of depending on the government funds alone.
“Your inclusion in running their educational institutions is in accordance with the policies governing education in the country. Be conversant with act in the country to interpret the school roles.
Obano said the use of Boards of school Management Committees to run schools is abroad based government initiative meant to bring lasting improvement in the education sector and asked the communities to support those appointed to implement the initiatives.
The meeting was attended by Catholic sponsored schools from both Kisii and Nyamira Counties education Secretary Christopher Osinde.
He lauded the initiative saying that it will harmonize the working relationship among head teachers, schools’ sponsors and communities.
