Nyamira MP denies storming County Commissioner’s office to demand audit of schools infrastructure funds

The Kitutu Masaba Member of Parliament (MP) Clive Ombane has denied allegations of storming the Nyamira County Commissioner’s office to demand audit of Ksh 2.7 Billion from the Kuwait Government meant for the renovating and building schools in the region.

Speaking in his Constituency the legislator noted that no single cent was misused, reiterating that all the money was intact in the bank except that some lazy contractors who were dragging their legs on the job.

The MP was reacting to allegations going around in some section of the press where he reportedly, in the company of his colleagues Patrick Osero from Borabu Constituency, steve Mogaka from West Mugirango and Joash Nyamoko from North Mugirango led by Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusah Momanyi stormed the commissioner’s office and demanded explanation on the status of the projects and fund.

The Commissioner, Shufaa Mwajuma on her part, agreed that the legislators visited her office terming the meeting cordial. She said they paid a courtesy call to her office and their meeting was friendly, adding that the legislators were on a routine inspection of the projects.

The MPs preliminary report indicated that some of the projects in all of the four constituencies were incomplete and they promised to compile a comprehensive report on the status of the projects and table before parliament.

MP Clive Ombane said it is unfortunate that at some schools; lockers and desks had been bought but lack classroom to be placed as none had been constructed.

Ombane said contractors who had abandoned the projects before completion for unknown reasons would be dismissed and their tenders given to new ones.

The legislators decried the congestion of pupils in few readily available classrooms; the state they say is diluting the education standards in the region.
