Nyamira MP agitates for law to castrate men who defile children

Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusah Momanyi is agitating for the enactment of a law on castration of men who defile school girls.

She said that the vice is dehumanizing and if it is not controlled it will adversely affect the victims and their relatives.

She asked mothers to be best friends with their children to enable them reveal their abusers, reminding the public the main signs of a sexually abused child are isolation, difficulty in concentration and change of sleeping or eating patterns.

She asked parents to be keen on their children who ask vague questions or making statements about queer adult behaviours as one of the detrimental symptoms of sexual abuse.

The MP was addressing women groups at Ensoko in the county where she promised to support them in their economic empowerment endeavours.

“Unless we empower our womenfolk they will remain to be social and political slaves in society,” she said, asking women to join or form groups to enable them start small activities like table banking to access loans from both government and private financial institutions.

Pastor Samson Nyangoto condemned all forms of child abuse because they are unbiblical and unlawful as they violate their rights.

He called upon the church and other organizations like civil society to stand firm and castigate the practice.

He attributed it to poverty which forces men to sleep in the same house with their daughters.

He also accused guardians of orphaned or neglected children who take advantage of their economic dependence to exploit them sexually.

Saying that defilement may lead to death or permanent depravity, he asked the government to give exceptional punishment to the offenders.
