Nyamira county Senator Erick Okong’o Omogeni has blamed the county government for underpaying Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) teachers as compared to other counties.
The Senator, who spoke at Keginga Tea Buying Centre in Borabu constituency, said that ECDE teachers are very important because they mould children at their formative years and underscored the need to pay them commensurate salaries to motivate them.
Saying that the education and health sectors are very important to the welfare of the populace, Omogeni asked Governor Amos Nyaribo to strengthen them by allocating enough money for workers to ensure effective services.
“Let the governor prioritize the development of these sectors because they are the backbone of all development,” he said.
He pledged to utilize his mandate as the Senator to oversee all county government operations and ensure accountability and that residents experience effective leadership on all sectors that affect their livelihood.
A resident, Justus Karani, lauded the Senator for his advocacy and asked him to also follow up on the health and agriculture sectors for the benefit of residents.
