Nyamira County Government will continue supporting the girl child in education by providing her with sanitary towels to enable them to remain at school during school days to continue with their studies.
Governor Amos Nyaribo said that the girls have the potential to perform even better than their boy counterparts if they are given enough encouragement that emancipates them from the long-held, wrongly held attitudes that depict girls as only meant for Kitchen chores.
In a speech read on his behalf by the County Executive Committee (CEC) secretary in charge of education, Everlyne Ongaga, on Tuesday, June 8, 2025, the governor stated that his government intends to assist more than 4,500 girls in all public primary schools in Nyamira.

“We value the provision of quality education to our children and will continue working with all stakeholders to make it a success,” he said
During the distribution of hygiene towels at Menyenya High in Borabu Constituency, Nyaribo called upon female parents to visit schools regularly to understand from teachers some of the physical challenges their children encounter at school and find ways to minimise them before they get out of hand.
He stated that the county had successfully launched the provision of fortified porridge to all children in the Early Childhood Development Education classes and promised that the government would bring more projects to the country.
Parents who attended the function welcomed the programme and asked the governor to extend it to the boy child by providing them with inner pants, so that they would not feel isolated and left behind.
