Benard Atandi, a student from Enchoro Village in Nyamira County, is appealing for help to join Grade 10 at Menyenya High School after failing to raise the required fees and learning materials. Relatives said Benard, who sat his KPSEA at Nyamuya Primary School and performed well, received admission to Menyenya but has not reported due to financial hardship.

Speaking to Education News, the orphaned boy expressed a strong desire to continue his studies but said he has no one to support him.

“I tried to apply for County Education Scholarship but I did not succeed,” he said, adding that he remains hopeful for assistance from well‑wishers.

Atandi said he used proceeds from selling chicken he had reared to buy one pair of school uniform as indicated in his admission letter, but he still lacks funds for fees and other required learning materials. He does not have a personal phone contact and requested that those willing to assist reach him through his relative, James Omoiberania, of the local vernacular radio station Egesa.

A villager, Job Arasa, described Atandi as a promising learner who deserves a chance to continue his education. He appealed to Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo, West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka and other leaders to intervene so the student can report to school and secure his future through quality education.
