A sombre mood engulfed Sangakai village, Kacheliba in West Pokot County following the death of Daniel Krop, a former KMTC student.
Initially, Krop started his early education at Sunflower Academy Kacheliba before joining Holly Cross Boys Secondary School in Kacheliba.
When Krop joined Nyahururu KMTC, he became an active member of the Young Christian Society (YCS) and the choir at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Nyahururu.
As fate would have it, Krop was scheduled to take his final exam on July 24, 2025, but he did not appear in the exam room for more than two days, forcing his friends and tutors to search for him.
The search ended up in his room in Nyahururu, where his lifeless body was found lying on his bed.
According to the family spokesperson, Ibrahim Akida, the postmortem results showed that Krop died of Pneumonia.

Kevin Kiprono, a student leader at Nyahururu KMTC in Nyahururu, showered Krop with praise as a dedicated student and social to many.
“Krop was an active student at the college, and he participated in many activities, for instance, being a member of the choir and the Young Christian Society,” Kiprono said.
The chair of the choir at St. Luke Catholic Church, Nyahururu, said that they will miss the services of the late Krop, as he was dependable in playing the keyboard.
Krop was a member of St. Jecinta (Jumuiya) in Kacheliba Parish, and his funeral service was presided over by Fr. Charles of Kacheliba ParishParish.
Students of Nyahururu KMTC were present to show their solidarity with the deceased.
The family thanked the Principal of Nyahururu KMTC, Mungai, for the tremendous support accorded to them.
Politicians led by Honourable Titus Lotee, the Kacheliba Constituency Member of Parliament, were present.
