A nominated MCA in Kakamega has pledged to push the agenda of the girl child to ensure that she remains in school and accesses the ward bursary kitty.

Speaking after being sworn in at the county assembly, Truphena Asembo hailed her party –  Amani National Congress (ANC) – leadership led by Musalia Mudavadi for being considerate of the plight of young girls within the sub county.

“My main aim will be to zero in on the education of the girl child and young mothers who I will see to it that they access education without any hindrance. It is through this that they will be able to be empowered and compete effectively in the job market,” she said.

Ms. Asembo who spearheaded the party’s youth and women league, called on the girl child to take education matters seriously noting that it was a game changer in the country.

She pointed out that more women were being elected and appointed to various leadership positions within and outside the country and it was only possible if one had some education.

“I’m encouraging our young girls to come out in large numbers and make good use of our technical colleges within each ward and acquire necessary skills that will see them get employed and create jobs,” the MCA said.
