The Central Regional TSC Quality and Standards officer Cecilia Mutua has said that the commission will only promote teachers who are the residents of counties within the Central Region in the fourth coming promotion exercise of teachers.
She said that some teachers who are not residents apply for promotion but after they are promoted they requested transfers to their home counties.
“We will be very strict with the promotion of teachers by ensuring that only teachers who are residents because if we promote them they will go to their home counties leaving us with another burden of replacing them”, said Mutua.
Mutua further said the commission will use the same guidelines while employing JSS and Primary School teachers saying only local registered teachers will be prioritised compared to foreigners.
She encouraged teachers who are registered and are from within the Central region to apply for the jobs.
Mutua also highlighted that the commission has deployed enough secondary school heads and primary school heads to enhance the smooth running of the institutions to achieve quality education.
Mutua who was speaking during Nyandarua County Education Day held at Kinango Secondary School said the TSC will continue reducing the rate of understaffing in the education institutions in the Central Region.
Central Region has four Counties including Kiambu, Muranga, Kirinyaga, and Nyandarua counties.
She urged all teachers and Principals to exploit the potential of learners to ensure they gain more in both academic and co-curricular activities.
She also used that opportunity to encourage all Governors within Central Region to ensure all ECDE Teachers are registered by TSC before they are employed by the County Governments to maintain high standards of the teaching profession.
The function was attended by Nyandarau County Governor Kiarie Badilisha, Senator, MPS, Nyandaraua County Director of Education Philip Wambua, Nyandarau TSC Director Tom Akal, KNUT and KUPPET Officials among other guests.
