The Ministry of Education (MoE) has barred schools from holding social and extra-curricular events during the third term as learners prepare for the upcoming national examinations scheduled for October.
Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok issued a warning to all institutions, emphasising that only academic work should be conducted during this crucial period.
He stressed that the list of banned activities includes “prayer days, visiting days, half-term breaks, sports, prize-giving ceremonies, and annual general meetings.”

The directive, which has been in place since 2021, aims to keep students focused and reduce interruptions ahead of the examinations.
Bitok further announced that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) will run from October 21 to November 21.
Exams for Junior and Senior primary school learners are expected to start on October 27 and conclude between October 30 and November 5.
