There will be no more fundraisers for public schools’ infrastructure in Alego/Usonga Constituency as the MP Samuel Atandi has assured that NG-CDF will fully fund the projects.
Atandi said the NG-CDF kitty has enough resources that can facilitate building of such projects.
“Going forward, all infrastructural developments will be undertaken by my office and so the school management committees must do proper assessments and forward the proposals to my office for prioritization,” he said.
While commissioning 7 new classrooms at Pap Nyadiel Primary School in East Alego Ward, Atandi said once projects are done, it will be the responsibility of teachers to ensure they work on strategies to enhance academic performances.
He argued that it’s the results that would determine the value for the money injected in the projects across schools in the constituency.
The legislator, who was accompanied by Siaya Township Ward MCA Obiero Otare, said he had met head teachers and principals within the constituency and shared the matter with them.
“In case of inadequacy, we shall use our own strategies to get resources because we have friends,” added the MP.
Atandi said the stalled projects in schools will be completed as others get renovated and face-lifted, saying performance must go back to its original form.
“Previously Nyanza was known to produce academic giants who would feature in the local dailies; that must be seen during my tenure,” he vowed.
He said tertiary institutions will be given bursaries and other resources to allow easy transition from secondary school.
“It’s so unfortunate that we have been spending huge sums of money to facilitate education at secondary school, but learners end up getting wasted afterwards. I have come up with the idea to push the youth to the vocational training institutions,” he revealed, saying he intends to get the people’s nod at public participation meetings.
“If you back me up on that proposal, we shall use bursary funds for a whole year to sponsor form four leavers to vocational training centres,” he said.
