The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Narok Branch newly elected officials have pledged to continue championing the rights and welfare of teachers in the region.
Led by Chairman Cheruiyot Chepkwony, the officials said improving teachers’ welfare will remain their top priority as they begin their term in office.
Speaking in Emurrua Dikirr, Chepkwony acknowledged that while some of the teachers’ demands have been addressed over time, many more still require urgent attention.
“As a new team, we are committed to ensuring that the welfare and rights of teachers remain protected. Although some issues have been resolved, there are still many challenges facing teachers that we must continue to push for,” said Chepkwony.
He also expressed gratitude to teachers across the county for turning out in large numbers to participate in the recently concluded union elections.
“We are grateful to the teachers of Narok for the confidence they have shown in us. Their overwhelming participation in the elections demonstrates their commitment to strengthening the union,” he added.

The newly elected officials further vowed to defend the rights of teachers living with disabilities, noting that the group has for many years been neglected in matters affecting their welfare.
“For a long time, teachers living with disabilities have not received the attention they deserve. As a union leadership, we will ensure their rights and concerns are addressed,” Chepkwony stated.
Most of the newly elected officials are fresh faces in the union leadership, a development seen by many as a clear indication that teachers in Narok County were eager for new leadership.
The officials also pledged to remain united as they embark on their mandate, expressing optimism that the new leadership will reinvigorate advocacy efforts and improve service delivery for post-primary teachers in the county.
“We will work together as a team to strengthen the union and ensure teachers’ voices are heard. Our focus is to enhance service delivery and advocate effectively for post-primary teachers across the county,” Chepkwony said.
