The deadline for keying of scores online is set for September 30th.
“ Candidates scores will be keyed online on the projects portal for candidates registered for Arts and Design, Agriculture, Wood Work, Metal Work, Building Construction, and Computer Studies as in indicated in the project schedule table after which, the portal will be closed and shall not be accessible.
“The marking scheme for Computer Studies will be uploaded on the KNEC projects portal by September 15th for the Sub-county Directors of Education (for private candidates) and Principals/Subject teachers to download,” states KNEC Acting Secretary/Chief Executive, Mercy Karogo.
In a circular dated January 19th, 2018, addressed to Sub-county Directors and Principals, Karogo observes that over the years, County Directors of Education (for private candidates) and Principals/Subject teachers have not been keying the candidates’ scores as required.
“Please note, KNEC will not process nor release examination results without the project, practical, oral or aural scores,” said the council boss.
She said KNEC will be monitoring the status and the progress of all projects for the candidates who registered for the 2018 KCSE examinations in schools at different times as per the examination time table.
Schools are expected to compile and keep the progress report for all candidates’ project work to be presented to the monitoring officers.
“It is the responsibility of the Sub-county Directors of Education and Principals to ensure that the candidates’ scores are keyed. Failure to do so shall attract a penalty of Sh500 per candidate.
“All Sub-county Directors of Education and Principals are asked to note that the examination materials remain confidential, and should be treated as such,” said Karogo.
She added: “The advance instructions for 442/2 and 451/2 practical examinations (Group IV Subjects) will be uploaded on the schools’ project portal to enable them (schools) prepare materials in time for the examinations by September 30th.
“The keying of candidates’ scores for subjects with the Oral and Aural component – French (501/3), German (502/3), Arabic (503/3), Kenya Sign Language (504/3), and Music (511/1) shall be done by the assessors after the assessment of the candidates on the examination day,” stressed the KNEC Secretary.
