Bungoma High School and AC Butonge High School have new principals following official handover ceremonies held on Friday August 15,2025.
At Bungoma High, Bishop Wambuchi Wycliffe Wasike formally took over as principal, succeeding Toil Khisa, who had been acting head since the resignation and subsequent death of Dr. Enock Andanje yesterday.
Wasike, who until recently headed Marobo Boys Secondary School, is returning to familiar territory, having served earlier as deputy principal at Bungoma High. His return is expected to bring stability and renewed focus to the school.
Speaking during the ceremony, Wasike pledged to uphold the institution’s tradition of excellence while emphasizing discipline and holistic learning. “Bungoma High has always been known for strong academic and co-curricular performance. I am humbled to be back and I will work closely with teachers, parents, and students to ensure continued success,” he said.

Teachers and parents welcomed the appointment, describing Wasike as a seasoned administrator who understands the school’s culture.
The late Dr. Andanje is remembered for his commitment to discipline and raising academic standards. His sudden passing left a leadership vacuum, which Khisa helped fill temporarily. Stakeholders praised Khisa for ensuring continuity during the transition period.
At AC Butonge High School, Hudson Lunani officially assumed office during a separate handover ceremony, replacing Moyi, who has been transferred to Malava Boys High School in Kakamega County.
Lunani expressed gratitude for the opportunity and outlined his vision for the school. “I am honored to join the AC Butonge family. My focus will be teamwork, discipline, and hard work so that every learner has the chance to excel both in academics and co-curricular activities,” he remarked.

Parents and teachers at Butonge welcomed the appointment, noting that Lunani’s leadership would help consolidate the school’s gains and raise its profile further.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC), which oversees school transfers and appointments, said such leadership changes are routine and are intended to strengthen management and improve performance across institutions.
Education stakeholders in Bungoma and Kakamega counties have expressed optimism that the new principals will provide fresh energy and stability, ushering in a new phase of growth in their respective schools.
