During the handing over and farewell party attended by Education Officers and Teachers Unions officials, Mr. Koros thanked the people of Nyamira for according him a conducive working atmosphere.

“When I came to Nyamira County, I felt at home away from home,” he said.

The officer thanked the teachers for their devotion in the holistic molding of the child and asked them to continue with the same spirit.

He asked his successor to be wary of rampant child abuse cases and teenage pregnancies in the county.

On her part, Mrs. Mwendwa said she had been working with parents and teachers harmoniously in Murang’a and expected the trend to continue albeit in a different locality.

“I promise to deliver professional services to you as directed by my employer without compromise,” she added.

She asked for cooperation from all education stakeholders from the region in order to continue successfully with the leadership baton she had inherited from Mr.Koros.

KUPPET Nyamira County Executive Secretary Mr. Lewis Nyakweba who led other officials to welcome the new officer assured her of teachers’ cooperation.

Mr. Nyakweba further asked the TSC to pause the transfer of teachers at this time when they were preparing candidates for their final examinations.

“We do not oppose transfers but we request our employer to effect them at the appropriate time after considering the welfare of all affected parties,” he pleaded.

The unionist later on asked teachers to uphold teaching ethics so as to avoid conflict with stakeholders and the employer.

“Ours is a noble profession that calls for discipline because we are models of enlightenment,” he said.

Mr. Nyakweba then asked teachers to effectively lead learners in the completion of the syllabus as they anticipate for resumption of the normal academic calendar next year.
