New funding model is much the same as old one, says VC

Prof Linus Gitonga, VC Karatina University, has said the new university funding model has little variation from the old model, and should be embraced by all.

Parents and guardians have been advised not to shy off taking their children to universities under the new funding model, which has very few variations from the old model.

The call comes as universities continue to make new admissions for first year students.

Karatina University Vice Chancellor Prof. Linus Muthuri Gitonga said universities have a directive from the government to ensure all students are admitted and remain in class.

“There is nothing new in the new funding method. It has undergone small changes. There is also minimal additional funding that have generated discussions,” said Prof. Gitonga.
