Needy students in secondary schools, middle level colleges, and universities in Matungulu Constituency in Machakos County are set to benefit from the Ksh51.9 million National Government Constituency Development Fund bursaries after the disbursement.
Speaking at St.Barbra Tala Girls high School on Wednesday while distributing cheques, area MP Stephen Mule said the funds were disbursed to selected students from all Wards based on their needs in order to ensure none of them fail to achieve their academic goals due to lack of fees.
He revealed that the students benefited from the funds after his committee thoroughly scrutinize them to ascertain that only deserving cases benefitted.
The MP said the cash caters for students fees from needy families in various schools in his constituency to ensure they do not drop out of school for lack of school fees.
“We are investing in the education of our children to enable them secure better future by ensuring that no single child fails to access education on the account of poor family background or lack of fees,” the lawmaker said.
The legislator added that his office will continue to increase the bursary kitty in order to help more students acquire quality education and bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.

“As your MP, am ready to assist where any parents are unable to deliver and we have set aside Ksh51.9 million as bursary to cater for children from needy background to enable them complete their studies and ensure no students drops out of school,” lawmaker added.
He said his office was committed to promoting education in the area and told the students to keep off drugs and work hard in order to achieve their dreams since their parents looked towards them.
“We cannot achieve our development goals if we fail to invest in education because education is the best investment which can be given to children to help them in their future lives,” Mule added.
He pointed out that beneficiaries are bright and needy students from poor families.
MP Mule also called on teachers, students, parents, sponsors and locals to work together towards registering better academic performance.
He also asked principles in the region not to send students home due to school fees balances but instead talk with their parents to find a better solution.
The MP also called on parents in the region to support measures aimed at improving education standards.
“It is important for parents to remember they have huge role to play in supporting improvement of education standards,” said the legislator.
