Naomi Aminga, a Grade 10 student from Nyamira County, has secured admission to Sironga Girls’ National School after North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko paid her school fees and facilitated full shopping, ending weeks of uncertainty for the family. Naomi, who hails from Nyagwekoa Sub‑location, had scored impressive marks in last year’s KPSEA but feared missing out on senior secondary education due to financial hardship.
Naomi, raised by a widowed mother, said she had lost hope of reporting to school despite her performance because the family could not raise fees or afford basic learning materials. “I despaired and started helping my mother bake maandazi to sell so we could raise any amount, even for soap,” she said.
Her mother, Jane Kerubo, appealed for help through a local vernacular radio station, a plea that reached well‑wishers and elected leaders. After learning of the situation, MP Nyamoko dispatched aides who picked Naomi and her mother, completed the shopping, and escorted her to Sironga National School on Friday, January 16.
Sironga National School Principal Jane Nyanumba thanked the MP for the intervention and expressed confidence that Naomi would complete her studies. She confirmed that the MP had paid the school fees and pledged continued support in the coming years.

Kerubo also acknowledged additional assistance from Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama, who sent KSh 30,000 for food to sustain the family for the year and a further KSh 10,000 for upkeep. She said the response since her appeal had been overwhelming, adding that she was grateful to all well‑wishers and prayed for blessings upon them.
An overjoyed Naomi promised to remain disciplined, faithful to God, and focused on her studies as she begins her new journey at Sironga. Asked about her dream career, she said she hopes to become a journalist or an artist like global star Lupita Nyong’o.
