National Cohesion and Integration Commission(NCIC) Senior Programme Officer Hadija Mohammed has called upon schools  to join Amani Club to embrace peace in schools.

Speaking during the launch of Amani Club in Makueni Boys High School, she said the club helps in instilling good morals in students from a young age and prevent some vices as they grow.

“We are now in the election period but as a country we have lost it when it comes to election. If we instill some good morals, it will help prevent chaos in future in all aspects of life and not just elections,” she said.

During the launch, she gave a peace talk to students, warning the boys against being used by politicians to cause chaos.

There are 15 schools in Machakos and Makueni counties which have Amani clubs. She urged more to come on board for their own benefit.

”Schools can log into our portal to join. Many are coming on board but would request all schools to join,” she added.

The school’s Chief Principal Raphael Diwani thanked the government for initiating such clubs in schools, saying it will help shape the future of students especially in peace initiatives.

“I know my students will embrace it to the latter. We will work closely together with the patron and help where we can,” Diwani said.

School Board chairman Onesmus Sanga thanked NCIC for the launch of the club in the school.
