Oloomirani Boys High School Chief Principal Stephen Mutai has been elected as the new chairman of the Narok’s Amalo sub-county secondary school sports association, ushering in a new era of leadership and growth in school sports.
Mutai’s election reflects the confidence that education stakeholders have in his experience and dedication.
Previously, he served as treasurer of the Narok West sub-county secondary school sports association, where he played a key role in strengthening financial accountability and supporting sports programs.
His leadership journey also includes serving as chairman of Drama at Konoin sub-county in Bomet County, where he championed co-curricular activities and enhanced student participation in performing arts.
A firm believer in holistic education, Mutai has consistently promoted both academic and sporting excellence.
His most notable sports achievement came when he guided the Oloomirani Boys High School basketball team to reach the Narok County level last year — a milestone that raised the school’s competitive profile and inspired many young athletes.

Through teamwork, discipline, and mentorship, he has proven that talent can thrive with the right guidance and commitment.
In the newly created and gazetted Amalo sub-county, Mutai will work alongside a dedicated team.
Jacob Barusei, who also serves as Narok County secondary school sports association secretary, takes up the secretary position, while Peter Mutai, Principal of Nkaroni Secondary School, assumes the treasurer’s role.
With zones comprising Southern, Central, Western, Eastern, and Northern, Amalo Sub-County is set for structured sports development. Under Stephen Mutai’s stewardship, stakeholders anticipate enhanced talent identification, improved competitions, and greater opportunities for students to excel in sports across the region.
