Under the calm skies of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), joy and emotion filled the air as proud parents and guardians streamed into the graduation square for the institution’s 24th October ceremony.
Among the jubilant graduates was Dalton Kuyo, a young man from Narosura village in Narok County, whose inspiring journey from herding livestock to earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing left many in awe.
Born in a humble family, Dalton spent his early childhood tending to his parents’ animals until one day, seeing children heading to school sparked in him an unshakable desire for education.

With encouragement from his parents, he enrolled at Naikara Boarding Primary School in 2014, later joining Moi High School Naikara, where he sat his KCPE in 2018.
In 2019, Dalton’s dream took shape when he joined CUEA to pursue Nursing. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic disrupting his studies in 2020-2021, he gave back to the community by working at Talek Health Centre in Maasai Mara as a community health partner.
Now a proud graduate and the second-born in a family of three, Dalton says he is determined to use his skills to serve people in the most remote parts of Narok County.
Another shining face in the crowd was Rotich Linda Chebet, who earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Hailing from West Pokot County, Linda attended Makutano Central and Nasokol Primary Schools before joining Kapkoiga High School. Her story reflects CUEA’s commitment to nurturing learners from all corners of the country.
