Residents of Lolgorian and Angatta Barrikoi in Narok County have expressed growing frustration over the ongoing communal violence in the area,
The residents warned that learning activities could be disrupted when schools reopen due to heightened insecurity.
Led by community leader David Keter, they said the continued violence has instilled fear among locals, with several people reportedly killed and houses torched in recent days.
“We are living in fear every day. People have been killed and homes burned, and now parents are worried that children may not be able to return to school safely,” Keter said while speaking to the press.
He further expressed concern over the silence of elected leaders from the region as the violence continues unabated. “It is worrying that our leaders have chosen to remain silent as our people suffer. We need leadership and action, not silence,” he said.

Keter appealed to local communities to embrace peaceful coexistence, saying communal conflict has no place in the country. “We have lived together before, and we can do so again. Violence will not solve our problems,” he added.
Former MCA Gabriel Mibey called for a fair and comprehensive disarmament exercise, noting that the widespread availability of illegal firearms is fueling the clashes. “Thousands of illegal guns are in the wrong hands. Unless disarmament is carried out fairly and thoroughly, these attacks will continue,” Mibey said.
Women from the affected areas also condemned the violence, saying women and children have borne the brunt of the attacks. “We are the ones suffering the most. Our children are traumatised, and our homes are no longer safe,” said one woman during the press briefing, accusing the government of neglect.
At least six people have been killed in the past four days, according to local sources, with residents now appealing for urgent intervention from Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen to restore peace and security in the region.
