Narok leaders appeal to the youth to allow peaceful reopening of schools

President William Ruto and former and present governors of Narok County Samuel Tunal and Patrick Ole Ntutu at a church service yesterday. The leaders asked the youth to keep peace tomorrow as schools are reopening.

Leaders in Narok County have appealed for peace to prevail in the country to enable children to return to school peacefully after the half term break.

Led by Narok County Governor Patrick Ole Ntuntu and his predecessor Samuel Tunai at Lolgorian PEFA Church on Sunday service, they said the country has taken a long time to build itself and asked the youth to exercise self-control and sanity as they seek to be heard.

” We know they are pressed up economically but let them hold their horses as they approach leaders who are their parents,” said Ole Ntutu.

On his part, Tunai said all Kenyans must embrace dialogue at this time of need because it is the best way forward towards peace and unity.

He appealed to the Gen Z to accept the win-win approach in their quest for a just society.

“The president has already declined to sign the Finance Bill 2024 into law. This shows his willingness to listen to our children who also need to leave the streets and come to the table and reason together,” he said.

Tanui praised the youth for expressing their views and feelings through peaceful demonstration but castigated some goons who might have taken advantage to loot other people’s shops and homes.

He asked the president to intervene and ensure that those who engaged in crime are brought to book.

President William Ruto, who attended the church gathering unannounced, said he was ready to listen to the youth but vowed that those who violate the law by destroying property will face the law.

” Even the police who are said to have used excessive force to molest protesters and any other law breakers will be arrested and charged in a court of law because the DCI has CCTV footage of the suspects,” he said.
