Narok Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech has lauded the outstanding academic achievement of Aron Kipkorir, a student from Mulot in Narok West sub county, whose education journey almost came to an abrupt end due to family hardship but has now culminated in success.
Speaking on the matter, Koech recalled that around 2023, residents of Mulot, through Peter Sotet, approached him to help Aron, whose mother was battling mental illness.
At the time, Aron was a student at Kaplong Boys High School and was at high risk of dropping out due to lack of support.
Despite initial interventions, Aron eventually dropped out and later joined Laluk High School.
However, Koech said he felt a personal responsibility to step in after learning of the boy’s determination and potential.
“As someone familiar with Kaplong Boys High School, I took it upon myself to bring him back and personally paid his school fees so that he could continue with his studies,” Koech said.

The decision proved pivotal. According to Peter Sotet, who has been closely involved in Aron’s journey, the young man has now fulfilled the promise he made to those who supported him by posting an impressive mean grade of B+ in his final examinations.
Koech described Aron’s success as a powerful example of resilience, discipline, and the importance of timely intervention for vulnerable learners.
“This achievement shows what is possible when we believe in our children and focus on excellence, even in the face of difficult circumstances,” he noted.
He congratulated Aron Kipkorir for his determination and called on leaders and communities to continue supporting needy students to ensure talent is not lost due to poverty or family challenges.
