Narok County has every reason to celebrate as basketball prodigy Enock Kipngetich rises to prominence as one of the most outstanding young players in high school tournaments.
At 18 years old, Enock, a Form Four student at Enkare Ngiro High School in Narok South Sub-County, is not only a talented player but also the captain of his team. A natural leader both on and off the court, Enock guided his team to make history by winning the Narok County championship for the first time last year. This victory earned them a place in the Rift Valley regional high school games held in Uasin Gishu. This achievement has brought pride to his school, family, and the entire community.

Wearing jersey number 6, Enock prefers to play on the left side of the court. He is known for his agility, quick pace and clever manoeuvres that consistently break through opponents’ defences. In last year’s tournament, he scored an impressive 70 points, a contribution that was pivotal to his team’s triumph.
His ability to perform under pressure and lead by example has earned him admiration from teammates and opponents alike.
Reflecting on his success, Enock says, “Consistency, hard work, and discipline are the keys to achievement. You must believe in yourself and push every day to improve.”
Beyond the court, Enock is dedicated to his studies and demonstrates a maturity rare for his age. He balances academics and sports with a disciplined routine that includes extra training sessions, strategic reviews, and physical conditioning.
He also draws inspiration from American basketball star Stephen Curry, whose long-range shooting and leadership style have influenced Enock’s approach to the game.
Enock’s growth has been greatly supported by his school’s head teacher and coach, Seela Kuluo. A qualified referee and coach, Seela has provided guidance, mentorship and structured training that have helped Enock refine his skills and embrace the responsibilities of leadership.
“Enock Kipngetich is a remarkable player and a natural leader. Since assuming the captaincy, he has shown maturity beyond his years. His dedication, discipline, and willingness to learn have inspired his teammates to believe in themselves and aim for greater achievements,” says Seela.
Looking ahead, Enock plans to join a basketball club after high school, aiming to take his talent to the professional level.
With his determination, skill, and the guidance he continues to receive, there is no doubt that Enock Kipngetich is a young athlete who is not only writing his own story but also shaping the future of basketball in Narok County.
