Education stakeholders in Nandi County have called on parents to provide a calm and supportive environment for candidates as the national examinations begin, emphasizing the need for adequate rest, balanced meals, and emotional support to boost learners’ performance.
Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Branch Secretary Boniface Tenai said children need enough time to rest and revise effectively to perform well.
“Parents should give their children time to study and rest. Overworking them can easily affect their concentration and performance,” said Tenai.
Speaking in Nandi Hills, Tenai, who also serves as KNUT’s National Trustee, commended the ongoing preparations for the national examinations and wished all candidates in the county success.
“We are satisfied with the level of preparedness and wish all our learners the very best as they begin their exams,” he added.

County Director of Education Julius Too echoed Tenai’s sentiments, urging parents to ensure their children eat well, sleep adequately, and have a conducive environment for study.
“Parents should do everything possible to support their children during this crucial period. A well-fed and well-rested learner is more likely to succeed,” said Too.
Too further reiterated the county government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, noting an increase in the number of Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers and teachers.
