Nakuru County Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Director, Geofrey Chemos, has revealed that over 65 per cent of senior school teachers in the county have undergone retooling in an ongoing program aimed at preparing them to teach Grade 10 under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
A total of 3,456 out of 5,598 senior school teachers have been trained so far, with the exercise set to continue to ensure all educators are well-equipped with the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes necessary for effective CBE instruction.
Speaking in Nakuru City, Chemos urged teachers to apply what they have learned to improve teaching outcomes and wished them success during the festive season, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of integrity.

Meanwhile, Nakuru County Director of Education, Victoria Mulili, called on senior school teachers to champion the implementation of CBE, noting that pioneers of the Grade 10 program are expected to report to their schools in early January 2026.
Addressing participants at a one-week Workshop of Trainers-of-Teachers at Upper Hill Mixed Secondary School in Nakuru North Sub-County, Mulili, alongside senior officials from TSC, Ministry of Education, KNEC, and other stakeholders, highlighted the pivotal role of teachers in nurturing competencies across STEM, Social Sciences, and Arts & Sports pathways to produce well-rounded learners ready to thrive in society.
