After uproar and criticism from different people, popular Nakuru club which dressed its waiters in school uniforms has explained their side. In a statement released via their Facebook page, the club gave reasons why they chose the uniforms.
The club says they incorporate creative concepts in their themed nights to celebrate different concepts; they believe that the criticism came about because of the now viral BBC documentary where children were allegedly sexually exploited.
In its defense, the club says it has done “nurses’ scrubs, mechanics gear, chefs attire,”. ‘’Our sole intention has always been to create fun; we sincerely apologize for any negative misinterpretation that the video may have caused ‘’it said.
The apology did not land well either, Kenyans took to comment section to call the club out for likening adult uniforms to school uniforms.

‘’With due respect, this is not misinterpretation, scrubs may represent a profession, but school uniforms represent children and innocence, putting them in a night club setting sexualizes what should never be sexualized. This is not creativity, it is exploitation. please take responsibility and draw the line, children are not themes,’’
‘’There is no misinterpretation, you were pedobaiting. Coming just after the BBC documentary mnajua nini mlikuwa mnafanya,” said Jasmine.
The expose by BBC titled ‘Madams’ revealed chilling details of how children as young as 13 years were being exploited by adult women in transit town of Maai Mahiu with small things. Although the BBC handed over the evidence to Kenyan government, no arrest had been made months later.
