Nakuru based organisation targets schools in championing environment conservation

On June 5, nations across the globe marked World Environment Day in colourful celebrations aimed at advocating for environment conservation.

Stitching, Understanding and Development (SUED) organisation, played its role in putting effort for environment conservation in Nakuru County.

SUED, the Nakuru based organisation that advocate for four models including learners’ value nurturing, child protection, parent livelihood, and environment conservation for conducive learning took its journey to deep part of Gilgil Sub-county into the heart of semi-arid region,  at the Ndogo Primary School.

Just entering the gate of Ndogo Primary, serene environment characterised by cool breeze from natural trees which we were lucky to enjoy watching monkey chanting on the branches of trees was a clear indicator of how trees connect human lives to environment.

The rural struggling school in the escarpment of Eburu Hills in Eburu forest welcomed the organisation which participated in tree planting as a tool of environment conservation.

Moses Kirui, the founder SUED, said the organisation has partnered with other players in motivating, encouraging and encouraging success of learners through books donation and education on need to conserve Environment.

Kirui attributed the small population of Ndogo Primary totaling 250 pupils from Grade 1 to Junior Secondary School to inaccessibility of the school due to poor road network and the struggling livelihood of the residents.

SUED, has helped a total of 36 schools in environment conservation among other initiatives.

Some 16 schools in Gilgil, Kericho West (10) and 10 schools in Bomet East have been assisted by SUED.
