The National Campaign Against Drug Abuse Authority (NACADA) Kisii Chairman, Fr Lawrence Nyaanga has said his group will partner with schools to sensitize students and teachers on the dangers of drug and substance abuse during the region anti-drugs drive.
Speaking at Masige East Ward in Bobasi Constituency during the sensitization and fight against drug abuse programme, Nyaanga said secondary schools and University students have fallen victims of drug abuse, the vice he says has been attributed by the laxity of the local authorities.
He also blamed parents of neglecting their children, noting that they have failed in their guidance responsibility, leaving young people to seek solace in drugs.
The program was organised NACADA in conjunction with Kisii Country Government
Area MCA Michael Motume thanked Kisi County Governor Simba Arati for being in the forefront in the fight against drug and other vices in the community.

He advised the youth to join Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVETs) to gain relevant skills for self-sustainability in the future.
“Do not bypass these opportunities that come from the government, rise and seize them. Join TVETs today for a better future tomorrow.” He said
The session attracted more than 200 youth and adults, who openly disclosed how careless indulgence in illicit beer drinking and involvement in early teenage pregnancies diverted their minds from chasing their goals in life and promised to reform.
They asked programme planners to hold such forums at least after every three months to rescue many youth from the snares of drugs and substance abuse.
