NA Speaker hosts Japanese Ambassador on education partnership tour of Bungoma

National Assembly (NA) Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Monday accompanied the Japanese Ambassador to Kenya Ken Okaniwa on a tour of Bungoma County that is aimed at promoting education and socio-economic partnerships between the two countries.

Speaking in Bungoma town, Wetang’ula said they had a candid discussion in areas of partnerships alongside the local political leaders.

“We have had fruitful discussions with the Japan Ambassador and governor Lusaka on the areas of partnerships in future. We have had partnerships with them before in education,” Wetang’ula said.

Wetang’ula also noted that the visit is historic as the two countries celebrate 60 years of long standing bilateral relationships, adding that Bungoma is among the border counties that have directly benefited from Japan’s pool of investments in education and infrastructural development, among others.

Governor Lusaka on his part expressed his uttermost gratitude to the visiting Ambassador, affirming his total commitment to solidifying and expanding partnership niches with Japan in elevating and equipping TVETs and value addition in industrial parks.

“This visit is historic as we celebrate the long standing ties with Japan. We look forward to tapping into their great pool of network for the common good of our people,” he said.

The Ambassador affirmed his commitment to partnering with Bungoma to improve education standards and value addition.

Also present were Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli, MPs John Makali (Kanduyi) and Majimbo Kalasinga (Kabuchai), Bungoma County Assembly Speaker Emmanuel Situma, and several CECMs.
