A heavy cloud of sorrow hangs over Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, after a four-year-old boy’s lifeless body was discovered in the Kandisi River on Monday afternoon.
What began as a normal day of play for the little boy ended in unimaginable tragedy, leaving his family and the entire community reeling in shock.
According to the family, the child had gone out to play with other neighborhood children that afternoon, something he often did. But hours later, his mother, Vivian Agiza, was met with the kind of news no parent ever wants to hear.
“I had just seen him leave the house to play. I never imagined that would be the last time I saw my son alive,” she said, fighting back tears.
Vivian says children who witnessed the horrific incident gave disturbing accounts, claiming her son was undressed, his hands and legs tied, and stuffed into a briefcase before being thrown into the river by the same children he had gone to play with.
Moments later, a passerby walking along the riverbank noticed something floating on the water. It was the little boy’s body. The Good Samaritan rushed to pull him out and desperately tried to resuscitate him but it was too late.
The boy’s father, Cosmus Muasia, remembers receiving a phone call at work that changed his life forever.

“I rushed home only to find my son gone. He was my firstborn, my light,” he said softly. “I am calling for justice. My son was only in PP1 he had his whole life ahead of him.”
The Kandisi River, where the body was discovered, lies more than 500 meters from the family’s home. The area is surrounded by thick bushes, towering trees, and jagged rocks a place no one would expect a small child to wander into alone.
Police have since arrested two children, aged 10 and 12, in connection with the chilling incident. They have been placed at the Thika Children’s Home as investigations continue.
Several children have been interrogated as authorities work to uncover the truth behind the tragedy that has left an entire community.
