Mwea sub-county MP has broken ground for the construction of a Jitume Digital Hub to empower area youth.
MP Mary Maingi said that the hub is intended to provide digital resources and training opportunities to assist the youth to make a living through online avenues.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Maingi said that the construction will also include a Huduma Centre to bring essential government services closer to residents, enhancing access to critical services and improving the digital capacity of the constituency.

She said that construction of the project, totaling Ksh24 million, will be completed by February 2025, emphasizing the transformative impact the new centre will have on the community.
“Residents of Mwea will no longer have to travel long distances to access government services. This centre will drastically reduce turnaround times and significantly improve service delivery efficiency,” said Maingi.
The MP also highlighted her ongoing efforts to support local schools, particularly during the current exam period.
“We have been providing food to all schools in the constituency to ensure that pupils sitting for their exams are well-fed and can focus on their studies. A hungry student cannot perform at their best, and we are committed to making sure they are nutritionally supported during this crucial time,” she said.
