Mwea MP implores school leavers to join the local technical college

Mwea MP Mary Maingi has urged Form Four leavers who did not manage to join higher learning institutions to take a chance and join Mwea Technical Training Institute.

She also urged parents who were not able to take their children to secondary school to also take them to the institute for technical courses.

Maingi said that there are plans to sponsor the learners through National Government Constituency Development Fund (NGCDF).

“Parents, if you have a child who did not manage to join Form One or is a Form Four leaver and is not in a position to get a slot in a college or university, enroll them at the technical institute in Mwea-Gathigiriri,” she said.

The MP was quick to note that with the current issue of skilled labour in the world, the institution offers a wide range of courses that are marketable.

“As you embark on learning, kindly also apply for a passport so that when you get a chance, you will not be left out for lack of a passport,” she said.

Mwea Technical Institute is under the Ministry of Education, Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). It was established in 2019 with the primary objective of training people to not only acquire Knowledge, but also get technical skills viable in a modern society.
