Mwaani Girls Secondary School has elevated its mean score from 5.3 in 2018 to an impressive 7.19, with the ambitious goal of reaching 8.0 this year’s KCSE.
Speaking to the candidates during the annual prayer day at the school, the First Lady of Makueni County, Anita Mutula emphasized the importance of embracing faith, diligent effort, and the significance of their upcoming KCSE examinations.
“You should first attain their KCSE certificates and then focus on their future aspirations,” she stated.
The first lady passionately reminded the students to uphold the values instilled in them by their dedicated teachers and supportive parents.
Additionally, she stressed the significance of cherishing one’s body as the temple of God, advising them not to rush through life, as everything has its own time.
Mutula also commended the school’s excellence not only in academics but also in co-curricular activities, particularly music and drama, urging the candidates to keep the flame of their talents burning.
The County’s Chief Education, Internship, and ICT Executive Committee Member, Elizabeth Muli, urged the girls to rise above their backgrounds and embrace the equalizing power of education.
She discouraged mere memorization and instead encouraged critical analysis of each question.
“You have the potential and even if you don’t achieve your desired grades, there are countless alternative educational pathways to acquire the necessary skills,” Muli affirmed to the girls.

The Director of Makueni County Education and ICT, Rev. Damaris Makau, praised the school’s impeccable order, cleanliness, and disciplined environment, expressing her confidence in their ability to reach their ambitious academic target.
In the spirit of collective optimism, the Chairman of Board of Management Fred Kitema expressed unwavering confidence in the girls’ abilities and their preparation for the upcoming exams.
The acting principal, Eunice Mutava, echoed this confidence and emphasized the dedicated efforts of the current class.
Positioned as the second-best school in Makueni sub-county for consecutive years, they have been consistently achieving remarkable results, with 98 out of 166 and 146 out of 189 candidates successfully securing university placements in 2021 and 2022.
With the resounding support of the school administration, the Deputy Principal for Administration, Anne Boore, vowed to create a conducive environment for the candidates during their exams, reiterating their faith in the girls’ capabilities.
The Dean of Studies, Elphas Munywa, shared the exciting news that the current class consists of 210 candidates and voiced their hopes for surpassing their target mean score.
