Musingu High School in Kakamega County has announced a five-day residential trials programme aimed at identifying gifted young athletes for the 2026 Grade 10 intake. The camp is scheduled to run from December 1 to December 5, 2025.

In a circular dated November 12, 2025, Chief Principal Lukuya Benard said the school will scout for exceptional talent in soccer, basketball, rugby, hockey, handball, and volleyball. The initiative is part of the school’s long-standing tradition of promoting sporting excellence and reinforcing its reputation as a key talent hub in Western Kenya.

Participants are expected to report on Sunday, November 30, 2025, ahead of the official commencement of the trials. Those who impress during the camp will be admitted into the school as player-students, allowing them to balance academic work with structured, high-level sports development.

In the notice, the Principal emphasized Musingu High School’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of sports stars, noting that the programme seeks to give learners an opportunity to sharpen their skills while pursuing quality education. The school has consistently posted strong performances in national competitions, making the Talent Camp a highly anticipated event among young athletes.

To take part in the trials, students must present an original and photocopy of their birth certificate, a Grade 9 assessment record, and training gear suited to their respective disciplines. These requirements, the school says, help ensure a smooth verification and selection process.

The institution also highlighted that the camp will be free of charge, with food and accommodation fully provided. This move is intended to make the programme accessible to learners from diverse backgrounds, in line with the school’s motto, Nidhamu na bidii.

The announcement, stamped on November 13, 2025, is expected to attract a large number of aspiring athletes from within and beyond Kakamega County. The school hopes the Talent Camp will continue to strengthen its legacy as a centre of sporting excellence.
