The 94th Kenya Music Festival opened its doors in Kisumu after two years of cessation following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at Kisumu Girls high School during the just began 94th Kenya Music Festival, the Festival Chairperson, Peter Wanjohi said that music played a vital role in exposing and nurturing talent among children.
He said the festival was an ideal opportunity for pupils to showcase and expose their talent and also get a chance to interact with a variety of cultures.
“This is a festival that provides children with the opportunity to develop their talents. There is no other area in the education programme where children come together and showcase their talent as well as the skill they have been taught,” he said.

At the same time, Mr. Wanjohi pointed out that the festival was segmented into three phases; talent development, child assessment and the concert.
“The second phase entails assessment where children face adjudicators and they are educated on where they have gone right and where they should improve,” he added.
The Chairperson further assured parents of their children’s safety explaining that adequate security measures were put in place.
The Festival dubbed ‘Kenya my Pride my Future’ kicked off on Sunday, 19th September and is scheduled to come to an end on Sunday, 25th September.
The Festival brings together pupils and students from Primary school, Secondary school and Colleges alongside Universities.
