Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has said the Government will curb all traders involved in drugs and alcohol in Kenya, which has greatly affected schoolchildren’s fulfilment in most counties.
Murkomen said the Government will not sit on the fence and watch millions of lives of school-going children destroyed by drugs and alcohol.
The CS said his Ministry will work closely with the 47 county governments to ensure Kenyan children receive education smoothly in all counties.
Murkomen, who was accompanied by Senior Security officers, including the Deputy Inspector General of Police, said the Government will close all drug peddling centres, arrest and prosecute drug peddlers with their collaborators in the Court of Law.
Murkomen stated that the counties most affected by drugs and alcohol in the Rift Valley Region are Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Narok, and Nakuru Counties.
The CS said it is through the use of drugs and alcohol that Gangs are operating in various Cities of Kenya, and by stopping drugs and alcohol, the Government will reform youths who are involved in gangs.
“The Kenyan youths with sober minds cannot get involved in Gangs and other criminal activities, but after using drugs and alcohol, youths participate in Gangs and other criminal activities, which is against the law,” said Murkomen.
He geve example of gangs in Nakuru County such as confirm, watized among others whose survival are supported by the use of drugs and alcohol.
The CS said this gangs groups are young children who should be in various education institutions and due to the useage of drugs and alcohol they are districting the peace and security of law abiding citizens of Kenya.

He reaffirms that the Government will ensure it does its best by curbing drugs and alcohol to ensure no child in any part of Kenya is affected by the negative impact of drugs. Murkomen also warned any Government officers who are colluding with drug peddlers, adding that they will be sacked.
“We will not allow any Government officers from the Executive, Judiciary or Legislative Arm of Government to collide with drug peddlers; any Government officers who will be found guilty of colliding with drug peddlers will be sacked in any position he is holding,” said Murkomen.
They also warned all Kenyans and Foreigners who are involved in Child prostitution and child trafficking, adding that they will face the full force of the Laws of Kenya.
The Kenyan security operators are working closely around the clock to ensure we stop child prostitution and child trafficking in Kenya; all perpetrators will be arrested and prosecuted in the Court of Law,” he said.
The CS also urged Judicial officers to play their role in ensuring that any culprit of child prostitution and children trafficking is sent to jail, so that justice can be done to the affected innocent Kenyan children.
He urged all Kenyans to respect Children’s Rights and create a conducive environment for any child who is on Kenyan soil.
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika confirmed that her Government will collaborate with the Ministry of Internal Security to restore peace in Nakuru County.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police accompanied the CS, as well as top security officers from the National, Rift Valley, and Nakuru regions.
