The residents of Kanyamanji East in Homabay County have asked the police to move with speed to investigate and arrest the murderers of a primary school girl.

The decomposed body of Mary Achieng was found dumped in a thicket near Waiga village swamp yesterday.

Area Assistant Chief Mr. Charles Odongo said the body had been found there after a week’s search by the parents with the help of villagers.

“The body was sprayed with the acid and laid on the ground to decompose”, said the chief.

He said the murderer(s) of the minor might have poured the acid on the body to hide evidence after defiling and killing her.

The tearful father of the girl narrated how his daughter left home after sitting for her KCPE examinations this year at Got Rateng Primary school.

She had gone to seek medication at Nhuru Hospital in the county but never returned home.

The father inquired from the hospital authorities who confirmed that the girl was treated and released to go home.

The police collected the body and took it to Homabay Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

Mbita Sub county Police boss Charles Mwangi assured the public that his officers had started thorough investigations to bring the suspects to book.

He asked the public to volunteer information that may assist them establish truth on the murder.

Area nominated MCA Sophie Salim asked the parents to take care of their children during the long holiday.
