Teachers from Murang’a County will convene in Kenol Town on Saturday, 6th October 2025, for a legal briefing on a petition currently before the Employment and Labour Relations Court.

The meeting, organized by Ndung’u Wangenye & Associates Advocates, will focus on Petition No. 086 of 2025 Kathawa vs Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and 4 others which seeks the reclassification of hardship zones and a review of allowances for teachers posted in remote areas.

Advocates Theodsa Okundi Matara and Thomas Kimani Waweru, alongside Salim Saleh, will lead the session, offering updates on the case’s progress and explaining its potential impact on teachers’ employment terms.

The meeting aims to inform teachers about the legal arguments being advanced, clarify the expected outcomes, and provide space for questions and feedback.

This comes as many of the affected teachers who work in under-resourced environments have long called for a fairer classification system that reflects the realities of their postings.

According to an official communication signed by the organizers, the Station Commander of Kenol Police Station has been formally notified of the meeting and tasked to ensure public order and smooth coordination during the gathering, which is expected to draw a significant number of participants.
