A Form Three student from Murang’a County has shocked his family and teachers after abandoning school to live with a woman believed to be in her early 40s. The teenager, who allegedly sneaked out of his boarding school, has been residing at the woman’s home, raising alarm among education officials and child welfare advocates.

According to family sources, the woman has been providing money, clothes, and personal items to the boy prompting fears that he may have been lured away from his education. Neighbours and social media chatter helped trace the student’s whereabouts after his sudden disappearance left his guardians and teachers in panic.

Efforts by the school administration and relatives to convince him to return have so far failed, with the boy reportedly declaring that he is “comfortable” and has no intention of resuming classes. The woman, however, insists their relationship is consensual and maintains she is only supporting someone she cares about.

The incident has drawn the attention of local education officers and child protection agencies, who have called for a thorough investigation into the legality and morality of the arrangement. Experts warn that the case points to potential exploitation, underage vulnerability, and the erosion of educational priorities among teenagers.

Authorities have urged parents and communities to remain vigilant, stressing that no material gain should replace the lifelong value of education.
