The County Government of Murang’a has disbursed more than Ksh118 million to over 3,000 students in day secondary schools in the region.

Governor Irungu Kang’ata noted that each MCA will be in charge of Ksh2 million which will be entitled to deserving students during disbursement amounting to Ksh70 million for the county’s 35 wards.

“We have prioritized orphans who received Ksh10,000 each to ensure they are able to continue with their education,” he said.

Parents have lauded the county chief for the timely disbursement saying that they had lost hope of educating their children as they did not have a stable financial standing.

The disbursement comes after Kang’ata launched an initiative that rewarded the five best candidates from public primary schools with Ksh15,000 as a token for their performance in last year’s KCPE exams.

He also said that day school students proceeding to university will each receive a Ksh12,000 token to help them in preparation to transit to higher learning.

“I am happy to note that Karega Secondary School will be sending 100 students to the university, other days schools that did Murang’a proud are Muthithi, Ngurwe-ini and Vidhu Ramji,” he said.
