Mulot High School will host the first-term Bomet County secondary schools’ term-one games, according to Mark Sang, the County Sports Association chairman.
Sang, who is also the principal of Mogoma High School in Bomet East Sub-county, said the much-anticipated competitions will run from March 4 to March 7, 2026.
He added that officials will conduct an inspection of the playing fields and sports equipment on March 3 to ensure everything is ready ahead of the tournament.
The announcement comes as defending 5×5 basketball champions Kaplong, 3×3 champions Kimulot, and former county giants Tenwek have been drawn together in what has been dubbed the “group of death” following the release of the official fixtures.
All eyes will be on the boys’ basketball competition, where Group A has already been labelled the toughest.
Kaplong return determined to defend their title, Kimulot aim to prove their strength in the traditional format after dominating 3×3, while Tenwek — once a dominant force in the county — are seeking to reclaim their former glory.
With all three teams boasting rich histories and strong records, the preliminary matches in this group are expected to be highly competitive, with only a limited number of semifinal slots up for grabs.
Group B also promises stiff competition. Mulot and Olbutyo headline the group and will be looking to capitalise on the opportunity to advance.
Girls’ Basketball Battle for Bomet County
With the games being held on home soil, Mulot will enjoy the backing of local fans, while Olbutyo remains a dangerous opponent capable of causing upsets.
In the girls’ category, basketball contests are also expected to be fiercely competitive as schools battle for the county title and a spot in the regional stage.
Besides basketball, the county games will feature handball, hockey, and 15-a-side rugby for both boys and girls.
Handball pools have been fairly balanced, drawing teams from Bomet East, Chepalungu, Sotik, Konoin, and Bomet Central, setting the stage for intense clashes.

In hockey, teams will compete through group stages and a round-robin system, with traditional rivals expected to renew their on-field battles.
The 15-a-side rugby competition is also set to draw attention, with schools such as Kimulot Boys, Longisa Boys, Kamungei, Tenwek, and Olbutyo Boys battling for county honours and qualification to the next level.
