Mukumu Girls seeks Ksh400M to facilitate expansion

Mukumu Girls High School has appealed to the government to issue Ksh400 million for expansion in order to decongest the school.

Speaking during the school AGM, Board of Management (BoM) Deputy Chairperson Dosiana Ahindukha said that a mega plan is underway to expand the school’s infrastructure.

Ahindukha said that the board is also planning to construct more classrooms by 2025 to cater for the growing population which is estimated to pass 3,000 students by then.

She noted that the government offered 7 ha of land across the road and asked the State to fund the construction of a fly-over to facilitate easy movement of students to and from classes.

Ahindukha said that Form 1 and 2 classrooms will be built on the new land Form 3 and 4 will remain within the school compound.

The school Principal, Sis. Jane Mmbone, lauded parents for allowing their daughters back to the school even after the death of three students and an English and Literature teacher months ago.

Education board Chairperson and retired Kakamega High School Principal Oliver Minishi said that the expansion of the school is among efforts towards improving KCSE results.

Minishi asked students to exert more effort and achieve their targeted mean of 9.5 and above in the 2023 KCSE.
